Recipe Tips

Use Fresh Ingredients For The Best Flavor

To ensure your S’mores Pancakes turn out as yummy as they can you want to make sure you use fresh ingredients. Fresh eggs and milk give a fluffier texture, and new baking powder ensures the pancakes rise well. You want fresh graham crackers for the best crunch — and flavor — when they’re processed into crumbs.

More Control of Pancake Thickness with the Batter

If your pancake batter seems on the thick side, stir in a bit more milk until it feels as you want it. If the batter is too runny, add more flour. The batter should be heavy enough to hold its shape when spooned onto the griddle but still flows freely.

Griddle Temperature is Key

Be sure your griddle or skillet is hot enough before you cook. If it’s too hot, your pancakes will burn on the outside and stay raw in the middle. To check the heat, sprinkle a few drops of water on the griddle — if they dance and evaporate quickly, it’s just the right temperature for cooking pancakes.

What to Serve with S’mores Pancakes

Bacon or Sausage

To round out breakfast, serve these S’mores Pancakes with bacon or sausage on the side. The salty, smokiness from the meat pairs really well with the sweetness in the pancakes to balance them out, and left me feeling sated and happy.

Fresh Fruit Salad

These rich, indulgent pancakes are perfectly balanced with a light and refreshing fruit salad. Opt for fruits such as berries, bananas and citrus to add color and fresh flavor. The sweet pancakes are brightened up and made more complex by the acidity of the fruit and a fruit compote is one of the best toppings for pancakes.

Whipped Cream or Ice Cream

For an even more indulgent breakfast or dessert, serve your S’mores Pancakes with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The creamy texture and sweetness of this will complement the decadent pancake flavors to create a dessert-worthy pancake special.

FAQ

Can I prepare the pancake batter in advance?

Yes, you can make the pancake batter overnight and keep it in the refrigerator. Just be sure to mix it well before you use it the following day, as some ingredients could separate overnight.

Can I substitute regular all-purpose flour for white wheat flour?

Yes, you can also use all-purpose flour in place of the white wheat flour in this recipe. Although white wheat flour has a nutty flavor and more fiber, all-purpose flour will do just as well in this pancake batter.

Are pancakes with chocolate okay as well?

Absolutely! And if you really love the chocolate, you can add a bit more cocoa powder to the batter for an extra hit of chocolate flavor. You can also fold mini chocolate chips into the batter for extra chocolatey bites in each pancake.

How do you best store leftover pancakes?

If you have leftover S’mores Pancakes, store them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to three days. When you are ready to eat the pancakes, you can microwave them for 20 – 30 s or if you want them warm, use skillet over medium heat 1-2 minutes on each side.
